OK, today the street in front of my house is closed. They're resealing the pavement, or something like that. Two days ago, on Monday, they tacked up signs up and down the street, warning of this and closing the street from 6 am until 6 pm. Cars would be towed, the signs threatened.
Fortunately for me, it's just a minor inconvenience. But what if I was out of town for a few days and had parked my car in the street? With only 2 days' notice, I would have pretty pissed about the impoundment.
My next-door neighbors were gone on a cruise for 10 days. Thank goodness this resealing dealio didn't occur last week. My neighbors left one car in the street. They asked us to do little things like look out for mail/door-hung flyers/etc. But they didn't leave us with a key to their house (or cars). We never thought something like this would come up. This is a residential neighborhood where there are far more street parking spaces than cars. You can park your car in the same spot for a month and no one would care.
