If a bad-guy is within 20-ft, you are probably toast. In other words, 20-ft is well within a justifiable use-of-force "boundary" IMO. Ever hear of the 21-ft. rule? Basically, the average distance a person can cover (and reach you) while coming at you with a knife, before you have time to draw and fire your weapon, is 21 feet. So, if you wait until an attacker is within 20-ft, it's probably too late for you to effectively draw your weapon and shoot.
