here is a strange question

I have an 02/83 944 so yes it's early, my clutch master finally went out after on and off driving for 4 years as I get it back into shape. So I get a new clutch master and tonight go to put it in, when I took the old one out I noticed that the push rod was bent slightly where it goes into the master. The new master's push rod is perfectly straight as I thought it should be. My clutch is always smooth and easy to push by the way. With the new master in the push rod rubs so I put the bent one in and it's perfect. The angle is obviously off between the mount on the peddle and the mount of the master, some time someone bent the rod for this reason. Okay my question is, could the peddle be from a different model ? every thing looks fine the firewall does not appear damaged nor does the peddle mounts. Any ideas?? It has worked perfect all this time this way but I can't see it being right. Thank you Alan
