I found Clancy's work to be slightly better than average , some books were very good, some, not so good. You had to pay attention when reading his books and his research was top notch, I've always said that good fiction is based on fact and this was a part of his stories that I really enjoyed. The last one I read, was the Bear and the Dragon, it really wasn't as well written as others I've ready. Also, it was a tough read, as frankly, I feel the real world USA is much more like the China of the book, and the Chinese are more like the USA of the book.
