It would help if you tell us why you think you need to change the rods. Rod bearings wear but the rods themselves don't, they should basically last the life of the car.

Changing bottom rod bearings requires only removal of the sump while changing rods requires the head to also be removed. Both jobs can be done with the engine in the car and its nuts on those rods not bolts and you must replace them with new.
