...because there is no such thing as a "Native American". There were and are a lot of Native American Tribes, but no homogenous, let's all hug Native American.
The differing Plains Tribes pillaged each others villages with a skill and abandon that is stunning in scope. No quarter was asked, none taken...captives became slaves, sold and bartered. Same on the East Coast. Read "Chesapeake" for gods sake.
I just wish the history of Native American Tribes was told well and honestly, without guilt. To try and tie the Hopi's with the Apaches to the Comanches and Patuxents is sad and intellectually dishonest.
