I've started working on my new winter beater, and I took the aftermarket exhaust off to gain access to rust repair areas. Upon removing it, I noticed it had a broken bracket that will need to be welded on. No biggie.... till I looked in the end of the muffler.



Isn't a muffler supposed to have some kind of baffling to "muffle" the sound?

This is a 3" (I think) catback exhaust. But I can see right into the pipe. If there is no baffling, isn't this just a big stainless steel garbage can welded to some 3" tubing?

It does not appear modified, except for the hole from broken hanger. This was like a 7-800$ exhaust when it was new.
