Is there any real benefit going to a 245/45 rear?
I've read on this forum that the 245/45 and 205/55 is not the ideal combination of front rear tire for AX. The explanation was that the ratio needed to be something within a specific range and that for a 245/45 rear you needed a 225/50 front and all the complexities of fitting that sized tire in the front that go along with it.
Hopefully someone knowledgeable on the topic will chime in. So far I've been able to get good feel on my 225/50 rears and 205/55 fronts, but I don't have anything else to compare it to.
New tires are on my radar for next year, so I would like to know if there is indeed real world benefit in going to a 245/45 rear, without also going to a 225/50 front. My primary goal is maximum AX performance on a non R compound tire/size combo.
