I've had both sides done & my wife had one side done back in the day before laparoscopic surgery was common. With the first one the doctor told me to take a walk the next day. When I met with him, I told him I had been walking & walked about two miles the day after the surgery (that was on level ground & slowly). He said he didn't mean for me to do that much. The first few days were a little painful now & then, mostly getting in & out of bed until I learned to sort of roll on & off the bed. I was back to work a week after. My wife had a similar experience. We both had the fabric patches installed. I would imagine surgery now days would be a breeze. Go for it.
