There are many types of hernias and therefore many different recovery times. I had a left inguinal hernia repaired about 6 years ago. Went in to the hospital on a Friday morning and came out late afternoon early evening. that night and the next day kind of sucked but the Norco thr doc gave for the pain worked wonders. By Sunday I was out of bed, walking around (slowly) and even went out to lunch with my wife. I was able to return to work Monday. I really didn't feel fully recovered until about 3 weeks later. It was then that I felt comfortable enough to return to my gym routine.
