I have been shopping around for another car and I'd like an Audi A8 due to their massive size.

I'm looking for the 2005 body style (I don't know what generation A8 that model is classified as)

What should I look for when buying an A8?
What are good price points for an A8? How high of mileage is too high to the point I should stay away from?

How about maintenance?
Are these nightmarishly needy cars or are they the 'fix it-n-forget it' type? What about upkeep/tuneup costs? And what about typical wear-n-tear parts that may need immediate attention?

Also, are these great road warriors, even with those large engines they have? (say... a drive from VA to OR, how does it handle with fuel, comfort, etc).


Sorry if I had a barrage of questions, I'm just wanting to be educated on this generation A8 before I sign any paperwork. Any input would be greatly appreciated and indepth replies would be fantastic!
