Family cat shot with arrow through chest in Norwich, CT - Boston animal advocacy | Examiner.com

Norwich police are searching for the individual that shot a family cat with an arrow. On November 4, 2013 a 1 to 2 year old male cat, who goes by the name Elliot, was brought in to All Friends Animal Hospital after he had been found with an arrow through his body. Norwich Mayor Peter Nystrom found the cat and contacted the police.

Elliot, who has a loving, elderly, disabled owner, was shot with a fiberglass arrow through his chest. Veterinarian Kathleen Tangari suspects the arrow was in him for two days before he was found. Luckily for Elliot, the arrow missed all major organs and arteries, and he should make a good recovery. Though he may see some long-term nerve damage to his front legs.

Officials believe this was intentional.

Mayor Nystrom offered to help with medical expenses as the elderly owner could not afford the hospital bills. All Friends Animal Hospital relied on donations from an “angel fund.”

Elliot is now recovering, having spent a night at Dr. Tangari's and is expected to go home soon.

The cat was shot in the area of Gates Rd. in Norwich. Anyone with any information is urged to call Norwich Animal Control at 860-886-5747.
