Chuck, are you going to apply a sealer before you shoot the car? I think it is the way to go, I have been using this Nason urethane based primer stuff on my yellowbird pieces. It goes on well and is hard as a rock. I found when shooting my new hood which was black and had the primer on the top, painting over the black stuff took forever and way too much paint compared to shooting the other side with the sealer primer stuff. plus you can watersand it to a smooth as glass finish. Just wish my painter put the extra day and effort to seal it and finish sand before the paint. I can see sand marks under certain light which drives me nuts!
take your time and be calm !
