Too much for that car. Heck, 1983 1984 944's are going for $3000 - $3800. The key here is always consider a 1985.5, Phase II first if you can afford a few more dollars. Big differences in the 1983, 84 and 85 model. Do not be in a rush to jump in after all if you cannot make your own repairs do not expect Pep Boys or Midas to change a clutch, install a water pump, replace timing and balance belts, etc. These cars can be very expensive for repairs and the older models are more prone repair. If you really consider this then have it checked out by a Porsche mechanic for the $100 investment. At that mileage anything can be wrong (steering rack, power steering pump and hydraulic lines, torque tube, wheel bearings, and on it goes. We wise and have it looked at thoroughly,the price is no bargain...
