For ease of cleaning, buy a stainless firearm and use pyrodex instead of black powder.

My father and I had bad luck with brass framed revolvers, as the brass is soft and the works will eventually get loosened up. Kind of sucks when a cylinder does not index properly.
Our favorite revolver was a Ruger Old Army. .45 cal, cap & ball. Full steel frame and target sites. Damned rugged. But Ruger no longer produces it, so you'll have to watch Gun Broker for a good one. They were made in blue or stainless.
