I also suggest you stay away from scratched records. Over the years I have concluded that just because a record is a dollar does not make it worth having if trashed. I only buy mint records and my collection is better for it as are my ears and stylus.

Always clean your records. If you can't afford a record cleaning machine, do not be afraid of washing them in the sink with soap water and sponge. I have been doing this for 30 years and it works and no damage to the label
