From Mike's (M.D.) post I gathered that his original price was 30K but now might inflate enough to look at a TT. If so then I would suggest going that direction Mike. The TT has few faults and is a more robust package all around.

My last post was a bit off, there was not a C2S in the 996, only a C4S. The C4S is basically a turbo body, suspension, and brakes with a C4 drivetrain. When it comes down to it they're just like the prior turbo-look models, no faster than the standard cars but they look like sex. They did make a C2S in the 997.
I would budget $40k for a good turbo. I looked at one at $35k but passed due to a somewhat sketchy history, and that's about as cheap as they get. Otherwise I agree, the turbo is bulletproof. Though for turbo money you can make a 996 or 997 pretty bulletproof too.
