How bad is your wiring? The insulation on the wires in my '71 is still OK and serviceable, and I have yet to have any problems with cracking.
Many years ago, in the '80s, I "rewired" my car. Long story short, I obtained a second harness from a wreck. I cleaned or replaced every connector in the car. I built, from scratch, a new engine harness using all the correct wires.
Not sure if this option will work for you, but I have had no electrical problems in the past 20 years on my car.
