You may want to ask your doctor about the vaccine. Since you never had chickenpox as a child, you are still at risk of contracting chickenpox from people who have active symptoms, and: ...for those who didn't catch it in childhood, an attack of chickenpox can produce serious, sometimes lethal, complications. Adults are at risk of pneumonia and, less commonly, encephalitis (infection of the brain).
