I am over 50 and I suppose quite a few if I fought through the massive shoulder pain. Genetics, diet and exercise are key. Some can work hard and stay the same weight when they are, say 50, as when they were 20. Some don't have to work hard. For some it is impossible.
When I was 20, I could do several one arm pull ups without a problem. Somewhat rare feat. Strength versus weight. Of course when I was that age, I could hold an iron cross on the still rings for several minutes. That came in handy in my sport.
