More on the gas tank

We got the gas tank all welded and sealed up. We did the bottom of the tank in textured undercoat spray first with the top clean metal and sprayed the whole thin in satin black… it looks correct, I think. The sending unit cleaned up well enough and damn it's long to get all the way to the bottom of the 100L tank. I was worried the piano wires would be overly fragile. After cleaning up the sending unit we powered it up and we did a little dance when the gas gauge registered the movement of the float accurately from full all the way to empty… I might have lost that bet.

And the coolest thing is that when we cleaned up the sending unit from the tank rescued from the '72 beater the date on the tank and unit was "12 67" so even though it's not original to my '68 I think it's period correct ( a little bonus).

Here's the pic's
