Sounds like CA will no longer permit CRV and non-CRV glass to be mixed together, so all of the little recycling places around the grocery stores in our area no longer accept wine bottles since wine bottles are non-CRV. Setting aside the "logic" of the whole state recycling structure, the result is that wine and spirits bottles are considered scrap.
From a little research, it appears that there is little value in scrap glass - if you can find someone to even take your scrap glass. I'm not enamored of driving all around LA begging someone to take my empty wine bottles and our community doesn't do recycling pick up with your trash.
Seems like a bad result to toss them in the landfill, but there also appears to be absolutely no real demand for recycled glass outside of the CRV program.
Anybody have any recommendations or knowledge? We're in the larger Pasadena area if that helps.
