Porsche typically used different colors on different engine models. They could mean different things, depending on the era. Usually red was used for the top engine, green for the middle, etc. Your green shroud was also used on a 911E, when the 911S was the top model and used a red one.
Plain, unpainted shrouds were used on factory race cars.
