For those of you that may be of Germanic decent, you may have heard the folklore of the Krampus.
Saint Nicholas and the Krampus would make visits around December 6 to make sure the children were either "nice" and behaved, or "naughty" and misbehaved. If you were nice, St. Nicholas would reward you. If you were naughty, the Krampus would punish you, throw you in his sack and haul you off to his lair.
