It will for sure not reduce the engine performance , but maybe it is increasing the performance . The timing is better with gears compare to a belt . No maintenance at all .Lubrication with the engine oil . You can see the oil flow from the top peep window . You take the belt drive off and bolt the bevel gear kit on . No machining and drilling required . You need to shim the gears to adjust the play like you do with a original bevel gear Ducati . This is the first image I took after the engine was running . I will post more images .
.
I was thinking about machining the belt housing castings , but it looks not to bad . The second prototype will look different and better . I try to get a close look to the original bevel gear drive .
How much ? Is a very difficult question in the moment . If I make a bigger number the price will go down . I am guessing between 4000 and 5000€ .
.
About the price I am only guessing . To make the gears is expensive and I do not know , how much the price drops down for a bigger quantity . All the aluminium parts are machined from solid . Maybe in the future I will cast them . I just don't know what looks better , casted surface like sand casting . Or machined all over .
.
I was not able to find any source for commercially available gears , with the steel quality I need .
I also think to cast the parts is better .
.
One Ducati is ready to put some miles on . I started the second one with optical improvements . The first one is just made to proof that it is possible without any machining and drilling to the engine .
.
I can build anything , like komplette new engines . But there must be a market for . To build only a few is too expensive .
.
Latest news . The first prototype got 200 Km and all is OK . Interesting is , the bevel gear drive is much more quiet compared to the tooth belt .I changed the ignition coil from the 4 coil system to the 2 coil system and accidently I found, the 2 spark coil is more powerful .
.
We have a professional test stand . Last week we tested the bike for 1 hour with all revolution ranges .In the moment we have a different about 3 hp . But The test with tooth belt is one year old . If we convert the next bike , we will make a test with tooth belt and bevel gears at the same day .Just wait and you can get a power and torque diagram

In 1 year a bike can lose 3 hp with piston rings or valves . This has nothing to do with the valvedrive . Also the day temperature and air pressure make a differend .
.
second prototype is in progress , images coming soon
