That's because Porsche never installed them on the narrow body cars, so what you are seeing are installations done by different individuals. There is no standard.
On the wide body cars, Porsche covered up the torsion bar access holes and the rocker trim rubber overlapped the stone guards. I'd probably do the same on your car.
Trim the rear edges of the guards to match the fender opening. It would look better that way.
