I was caught surprised by the crowds. Madera was very remote? When we first pulled up the surf was glassy and 3"-4", but walled. Nobody was out. The lady at the surf hostel said it gets "peaky" at high tide. Tides charts are obviously no secret to the Nicaraguan locals. As the time came up they came out of the trees like ants. When the waves shaped up, the crowd looked looked the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier on a September Sunday

Surf tour boats from San Juan Del Sur dumped off Gringos by the half-dozen at a time.
