The R4 are the racing pads, so they should be harder than the R4S street/autocross, which I run all around.

When the Carrera brakes were introduced they included a bias valve because the rear pistons are oversized, much bigger than the previous M pistons. What that means is you have a shift in the brake bias above a certain pedal pressure, meaning that at low deceleration situations like in the wet you get a more rearward bias because there is less weight transfer so you can stop quicker by using more rear brake. When you push harder on the pedal like in the dry the bias is more forward to account for the weight transfer.
