I have no problem with folks who drive faster, as long as they are driving skillfully and with care for the traffic and road conditions.

I have fond memories from about 15 years ago, on the highway from Halifax to central Nova Scotia, when I was in a group of very good drivers which sort of coalesced.

There were perhaps six or eight vehicles which blended their speeds and we were flowing through traffic. We were probably doing about 15 kph faster than other traffic on the road, but there were no brake lights flashing, no sudden lane changes. It was kind of zen.

What made it enjoyable for me was I could almost predict when each driver would make an overtaking outmaneuver. I was not worried what anyone would do, we all seemed to have the same style of driving.

It is when folks start making choices I feel are unsafe I get edgy.

The other night, coming home with the late afternoon traffic out of Halifax, brake lights started flashing like Christmas displays. The group of cars with which I was traveling at 110kph had come up on a fellow in an old compact car doing about 70kph. What he was doing on a limited access highway, I have no idea.
