One of my former co-works had a funny story about how he discovered the tooth fairy was really his mom. He had acquired 88 cents in change. This was in the early 60s so you could buy lots of candy with that much. They lived in the country and he was just waiting until he could get to town and buy some candy. He had counted that change over and over. He knew each coin, the date and mint mark. He stacked it carefully next to the spot where he sat in the living room.
He lost a tooth and was thrilled he would get another quarter for his tooth. He was going to have OVER a dollar! He was going to be rich. He went to bed and was excited about his imminent earnings.
The second he woke up he stuck his hand under the pillow and fund 88 cents. Wow, he was really rich now. He ran to living room looking for his loot and it was GONE!. Then he looked at his change and the tooth fairy had given him his own money. He was devastated and went crying to mom that the tooth fairy was a thief!
