on my TL (way back) these stone guards do their job. when i sold that car the unprotected part, closest to the edges had lots of little stone chips. when i got my new to me carrera i didn't hesitate to get them. i got the oem ones which are adhesive but taking them off isn't that difficult. i didn't know they made magnetic ones otherwise i would probably gotten those.
