FWIW, I have had a Paypal account for more than 10 years and
always have it tied to both a bank and credit card account. When I send payment I want it to be instantaneous.
But I made a couple eBay purchases earlier this year that I paid via Paypal - and it went the e-check route - unintentionally.
Maybe the credit card expiration date was expired - I don't remember - but it was resolved and now it's back to making instant payments, the way I prefer.
Maybe that is what happened to your buyer.
In any event - you did everything you could. Your buyer could have at least communicated with you the urgency of the transaction - or paid with a quicker method.
Maybe it will arrive today.
