Fuel line in a bad place

When I first pulled Dad's 74 into the driveway, I smelled gas. I jacked it up to find what looked like an original fuel line, right under the heat exchanger hot air dump.

It is amazing that it lasted as long as it did.

Replaced it with some napa fuel injection rated hose and installed some stratoflex heat shielding, (supposedly good enough to protect a fuel line laying on an exhaust manifold.

This last shot was The Big Clean up after the block thermostat popped out and oiled everything. The pump was subsequently relocated to the front of the car.
