I wasn't too impressed with the Poconos the last time I was up. I guess there are some really nice areas, but the hotel we stayed in wasn't in them. I should have done a little more research before making reservations, but live and learn. All that being said, if you want the country lifestyle with city conveniences, many parts of PA are it. The college town over from me has a place to tie your horses and a stall to put them in at the Walmart. You will learn to drive around horse and buggies here.
Carry permits are a form, fee, and 2 references.
Summers are hot, and its not a dry heat. Last summer was 100 with a heat index of 115 for a week straight. Winters are cold. Its not unusual to see single digit temperatures with a wind chill factor below zero.
All that being said, many people I went to school with, went all over the country and came back home.
I'll probably never live anywhere else.
