At home I have both a swampy and number of splits. I prefer the splits and will probably eventually swap out the swampy for a big cartridge unit when the impeller eventually rots away.

Back in the 60s swamp coolers wer common around here. Both sets of grandparents had them. I did not live in a house with air conditioning until I was in high school. When we lived in San Marcos, Texas and I was in 2nd grade the living room was the one room that had air conditioning. The bedrooms were all upstairs. I never did go to a school that had air conditioning.
I will never live in a house without AC and I will never own a street car with no AC. I doubt I will ever have a track whore car so likely no cars at all without AC.
