Both of my 3 D cell maglites were gifts and I've yet to use up the batteries that came with them.

You guys are shopping in the wrong places!

I have several very nice bright LED lights that last 10+ hours on 3 AAAs. The nicest is by LED Lenser and is german made even! I've never paid over $50 for a light, and that includes my LED dive lights.
