It is absolutely astonishing how much a high end RV can cost. 20 years ago I knew a guy that had a million dollar Bluebird motorhome. A million freaking bucks on a vehicle based on a bus? I can buy a HUGE mansion with a 6 car garage for a million bucks.
My great aunt and uncle retired back in the 70s and they spent over 30 years traveling in in various RVs or trailers. They lived in Washington and eventually owned just some property and a concrete pad to park the vehicle on. They would stay at "home" for two months every year to claim to be residents.
They drove to Barrow Alaska and all the way down to the Panama canal. The hit every state and every RV park in the country many times. No schedule or itinerary, just go.
Anyway his comments were that with a motorhome if you need a loaf of bread or milk you have to drive the house to the store unless you pull a small car behind. They are expensive and hard to service. He went through several. His final favorite rig was a pickup with a 5th wheel hitch and a large trailer. Drop the trailer and setup is easy. If the truck starts to get old get a different truck. It is just a pickup. The trailer is the key.
Driving a F-350 to the grocery store is not that difficult.
