It is not a good idea... it is a GREAT idea. Having myself started to run at 42 it is never to late to begin running and you will feel better in general. Just choose good cushioned shoes and go step by step. There are training plans to help you that combine running with walking and in a couple of months you can trot for 30 minutes without losing breath.
