they are designed to be drained then charged, over and over.
i have always been a fan of interstate. i had one that got a hole in one of the cells. all the acid drained out. i used tha battery for another 8 months until i left the lights on.

ODYSSEY Batteries - Chargers
The above is a link to the proper odyssey charger. I have one of these and the batteries function perfectly. Using a Schlumberger AMG charger cooked the first odyssey I had. The key to long life on these batteries, is indeed, the proper charger with the proper charging cycle.
