I just checked my O5 and the heatshield is an extremely thin foil that starts at about the rear of the cylinders and goes all the way back. Bare in mind though that from my understanding the OEM pans are carbon fiber (you can see the cf weave at the front where there is no heat shield) which might well be more heat resistant that fiberglass or certainly molded plastic.
