My experience, be there, consistency, listen, patience, don't expect too much too quickly, these kids have a really hard time trusting people, know your boundaries and maintain them with him and the family. If you get in to this do some research on what it takes for kids to be successful. Paul Tough wrote a great book on how children succeed.
