I did mine with a couple superbrightled.com LED's. You need to add a small resistor across the socket wires. Only needed the resistor on one. Now I can see the indicator on the dash with the targa top off in daylight.
BTW, OP seemed to be talking about the indicators in the dash, vs the outside signals. Is there a standard nomenclature to differentiate the two?
