Take this with a grain of salt, 'cause I'm just repeating what he told me. He had all three FL houses insured with USAA until recent storms caused huge ins. payouts in S. FL due to hurricane damage. According to my friend, USAA told him to "pick one" (all in N. Fl) as they were limiting their exposure. I believe him...all of my houses are in this area, but the ins. co's are protecting their profits from hurricanes that went up the east coast of NC in 2010. The irony...he's never filed a claim on ANY of his FL houses, but his Richmond house has been hit several times over the past few years and he's more than gotten his moneys worth with his coverage there. It's just a crap shoot...both sides of the equation imo
