All of the subsequent turbo variants of street 911s benefitted from the technology in the 959, starting with the 993tt and carrying on to the 996/997tt and the newest 991tt.
Things like AWD for a 911 sports car with its torque-splitting differentials, twin turbos and yes, liquid cooling! The 959 was a real test bed on wheels as well as a competitive racing sports car, (did it ever get to race)? It had zillions of dollars in R&D that will never show up on the street cars, either because it's not cost-effective, obsolete or both.
Still, it was an amazing effort by Porsche and its DNA is evident in all 911s since, especially the turbo models.
