Nice car you will love it. I have a 91 Triple Black.

Be careful with the roof. If it gets out of sync and breaks one of the main bows finding one is costly. Safest route is convert to manual. Removing 2 bolts will do the job and let you keep everything original if ever you want to convert back.

Seals for the roof are hard to find just keep looking. I got lucky and read between the lines of someones post over on rennlist and sort of guessed he would have some seals and he did and was willing to sell them.

Regarding the heat mine had the same thing and it turned out the engine was running hot because of a leaking water pump. Water temp stayed reasonable because the fans were working but the tunnel and shifter surround would get hot and heat up the whole car. After a water pump change the problem went away.

Why do you want a new cam cover? If it doesn't look good its not too difficult to take it off and get it powder coated or painted and then install new seals, rubber plugs and gasket. Just be VERY careful to use a torque wrench when re-installing and don't over torque those damn hex bolts because they snap very easily (ask me how I know).

Oh just in case have you checked the cam chain tensioner pads?

Enjoy
