I'm just finishing up a 7 month LS3 480 HP Renegade engine swap on my 2003 996 C4S. Like I'mThat Guys says, "it's not plug and play". Renegade's products are first class, and they will give you assistance, but there's no written instructions. I'm still looking to resolve some electrical issues that Renegade doesn't have a fix for. Also there's no fix for making the cruise control operable. On a contemporary road car I think that's a must. I'm looking into a fix for that, but it will be a challenge.
You'll spend more money and time than you think. The conversion is everything and more than I expected, the performance is "breath taking". I would think that the 928 would be a great candidate for the Renegade conversion.
Does it come as an automatic or a manual shift. If I were doing that I would prefer an automatic. I did most of the work myself, but enlisted several people with better welding skills than myself, also I did a lot of the electrical, but there again I had to get an expert to do the final hookup of some key components. Depending on your skill level in all of these areas will depend on costs and time.
I used all new parts, also I installed a lift which I think is a must for convenience and safety. I hope this helps and you're able to move ahead with your project.
