How about a .50 caliber flinter I built from a kit as a teenager. Used to hunt quite a bit with this one; surprisingly effective on deer. Load is 100 grains of FFFg, .495" round ball (180 grains), .015" pillow ticking patch lubed with bore butter - good for over 1,900 fps from the 43" barrel on this thing. Stock is cherry, finished with about six months worth of linseed oil rubbed in every day after school. I'll tell you what, too - the flinters sure teach a guy to shoot. Hold and follow through are paramount.
