Richard, your hospice nurse is right and you know you are right by your mom's reactions to things. One of the HARDEST things for my patients was feeling like they were giving up their independence and control of their own lives. Even though your mother forgets at times, think how comforting it is when she does become lucid and sees all of her favorite things? I know I am speaking to the choir but your siblings need to see it from your mother's eyes. I know they think they are helping but it doesn't help your mother or give her comfort or happiness. Keep doing what you are doing. You know it's the right thing to do.
Hugs.
