It isn't just "guys on this forum" -- the overall market currently values coupes over targas or cabs.
Some of it is aesthetics -- coupes are cleaner looking. Some is driving dynamics -- they are stiffer, and flex less under hard driving. However, in a car with marginal A/C, coupes can be a trial in the warmer parts of the country.
Depending on your perspective, Targas are either the worst or the best of both worlds. The roll bar makes them nominally stiffer than cabs, but still provide a degree of open air driving experience.
However, the top seals are dubious at best. They leak like it is their job, and they tend to whistle and moan at speed.
Cabs are true convertibles, and are actually more weather tight (on average). They are more cruiser than racers, but still drive great. I personally love convertibles, but would have bought a targa if the price had been right. I believe that -- eventually -- cabriolet values will overtake coupes, because that is just the order of things…with a few notable exceptions.
