Ruger Old Army - the finest cap and ball gun ever made. I load mine with 40 grains of FFFG, a wonder wad, and a .457" round ball, for over 1,200 fps from this gun. Ruger says it's safe to load with FFFFg (flintlock pan priming powder), but I've never tried it. As it is, it darn near matches modern .357 magnum ballistics, and it's actually one of the more accurate revolvers in the house - for the first few cylinders full, anyway. I use this as a sidearm during our muzzle loader seasons. It's killed a pretty good pile of grouse in it's day...
